Superski
When looking for a place to ski in the Alps, there are a lot of possibilities. One of them are the Dolomites in South Tirol. This region does not dominate any of the stats that come up when comparing ski areas with each other but can always be found in one of the upper spots (unfortunately this holds for the ticket prices as well).
Nevertheless, it has something that sets it apart from the other regions. At the beginning of 2024, Con Crema grabbed its skies and headed off to Italy to find out what the region’s secret might be and whether the name Dolomiti Superski holds its promise.

Even when the sun is not shining the view is amazing
When stepping out of the first ropeway station, the first ingredient making this region “super” becomes obvious: the breathtaking panoramic views. In this case, the plural is chosen on purpose because with every lift you are discovering a new side of these mountains. What makes the scenery even more special is the variety of landscapes you can observe:
From snow-capped mountain tops to impressive massifs and sharp ridges, there is everything. You might seven remember some of the mountain’s names as the Rosengarten, the Sella massif and the Seceda are frequently featured in travel magazines such as the National Geographic Traveler. Because of its southern location, the sun is shining a lot more often compared to other skiing areas.
But this is not the sole reason this area is special. Another one becomes obvious when we begin to ski. The preparation of the slopes is done with the greatest care you can imagine. The drivers of the Pistenbullys are working hard to make skiing a breeze. This enables every skier independent of his skill level to enjoy skiing in his style and speed. The feeling of skiing down a nicely maintained slope while looking at picture-perfect scenery is magical and makes you feel special.
To complete the picture, there are the huts. As the Dolomites are located in northern Italy, this is a melting pot for Austrian rustic charm and Italian dolce vita. Translated to food, you get a delicious pizza or pasta dish and top it off with a brilliant Tiramisu, Strudel or Kaiserschmarrn, all served in a charming setting and often with a panoramic view.
In case your legs ask for a break, the city of Bozen is there to take care of you. In its city centre, you will find everything you need: From a new pair of ski boots to some nice dresses for dinner or some fresh fruits on the market. While there, head over to Waag Café for lunch or a good coffee (or maybe even a little Negroni or Spritz), and watch well-dressed Italians looking for a new pair of shoes.
And when sitting there, you might come to the same conclusion Con Crema had on its latest visit: This experience is hard to find anywhere else. Cheers to that!
