Take a break

As the days are becoming warmer, everybody tries to spend as much time outside as possible. The parks are buzzing with runners, bikers and friends hanging out together. If you are living close to some kind of water, you might already have swum there. After the cold winter months, most people are thirsty for some sun and warm temperatures. To prevent running low on “sun energy”, Con Crema proposes to extend the sunny season by a sun break in the late autumn.

Do you choose a Mallorcan beach?

Or a small Greek town?

The idea behind a sun break in autumn is simple. Picture this: You are living in a house near the beach with some of your friends. Everyone is free to spend time together or alone: Some would like to do some sports in the morning, some would like to read. At some point, everybody will be hungry and gather around the breakfast table where plans for the day are made. Some will do a certain trip, others will go to the beach, and somebody will buy the ingredients for the barbecue tonight. And this is what we at Con Crema call a late autumn sun-break.

What about a coffee after that bike ride?

There are a lot of possible destinations that suit this idea. One example is the Greek islands. Even until the beginning of November, the temperatures allow for some swimming in the sea, but most of the other tourists are long gone by then. For those looking for a place that offers good conditions for sporty activities like hiking and cycling, Mallorca is a good option as well.

In those places, the tourist season often ends in the first week of November. Most tourists will be gone for some time then, and the local shop and restaurant owners wrap things up. This is the perfect time to snatch a good deal on that villa by the beach that might be out of reach in the main season. Furthermore, the beaches are empty, and you do not have to worry about people gathering at the main attractions.

In something that can only be described as real hard work, Con Crema tested out two locations: Rhodes and Mallorca. Both islands are very accessible from mainland Europe, have beautiful beaches, and some small towns to explore. While Rhodes will be warmer, Mallorca offers better infrastructure and great possibilities for hiking and biking.

Regardless of the location, make sure you do not make too many plans. Living for the moment is all that needs to be done on an autumn sun break.
